RFID iConveyor article

I just got the new issue of Make (vol. 15), and it’s packed full of great stuff. The focus of the issue is Music, and there are some amazing looking music related projects I’d love to build.

I wrote a Build Notes project for this issue on creating my RFID iConveyor belt. It’s an interface to any computer where you launch applications and websites by dropping little wood tiles onto a conveyor belt. You can follow this link to my Flickr set of the build photos.

There’s also a sidebar written by my cohort Usman Muzaffar on why he wrote the software in Tcl (Tool Command Language). You can download the script here.

It’s not an entirely practical device, I’ll admit, but it was fun to build and I do enjoy using it.

My friend Mark just posted a video he made at Maker Faire of me demonstrating my new project for Make Magazine, the RFID Conveyor Belt. You can click the image to see his post at he and Mister Jalopy’s most excellent blog, Dinosaurs and Robots.
