Haha, that’s pretty much what I thought Alan. There are a couple of large brands who make low quality stuff with high fructose corn syrup in them, I don’t love those. Then there are specialty brands that are more natural and taste much better, such as Q Tonic and Fever Tree. But those don’t have as much flavor and tune-ability as this labor intensive process!

Was I ever wrong. I always felt ripped off when I bought tonic water since I was thinking it was a bit of bitter carbonated water. Instead of color, flavor, syrup etc… Next time I get some tonic water I will see the bargain it is.

Hi Alan, that’s awesome, brings back memories of all sorts of traps and counter-traps my sister and I used to set! We didn’t use any bounce mirrors at all, just lots of lasers.
Actually, we did have one mirror spinning on a motor to create a sweeping laser beam, but that one wasn’t sensed, just used for effect.

Hi John,

I did a similar thing a few years ago for a young boy who wanted to protect his room from a snooping sister. :) I found it difficult to align the bounce mirrors if there was more than one of them. How are you keeping the bounce mirrors in place?

Hi Jayden, I was simply running a modified blink sketch and adjusting the delay timing to see how fast the solenoid would go.

Start with this:

int ledPin = 13; // relay connected to digital pin 13

void setup() // run once, when the sketch starts
{
pinMode(ledPin, OUTPUT); // sets the digital pin as output
}

void loop() // run over and over again
{
digitalWrite(ledPin, HIGH); // sets the relay on
delay(200); // waits for a second
digitalWrite(ledPin, LOW); // sets the relay off
delay(200); // waits for a second
}
